Hoyer's beginnings start with Svend Hoyer, a man of immense energy and drive. In 1974 he founded the company which has grown to become one of Scandinavia's leading suppliers of power transmissions and electric motors. A lot has happened since the humble start in the basement of Svend Hoyer's home when chains, gears and couplings were the predominant products to turn the business into the state-of-the-art enterprise that it is today.
1974 Svend Hoyer ApS is founded by Svend Hoyer as a private limited company.
1976 The first combined warehouse and stock building covering 400 sq m is inaugurated.
1978 The company is appointed distributor of ZMC chains and ROSSI gear motors.
1989 Svend Hoyer ApS is incorporated as a public limited company, Svend Hoyer A/S. Svend Hoyer’s son, Lars Hoyer, and two employees become co-owners.
1994 Lars Hoyer is now the sole shareholder and owner of the company.
1995 The existing warehouse is expanded with 800 sq m.
1997 The Norwegian subsidiary, Svend Hoyer AS, is established. The warehouse is expanded with another 500 sq m.
1998 A new 1,000 sq m warehouse is built for Hoyer Motors.
1999 A subsidiary in Sweden, Svend Hoyer AB, is established. A new 600 sq m office and administration building is inaugurated. The warehouse is expanded by a further 2,000 sq m.
2003 An adjoining property of 30,000 sq m is acquired with 5,000 sq m of office facilities and warehouse buildings.
2004 The entire storage facility is moved to the new premises and a further 2,400 sq m of warehouse facilities are added.
2005 The office building from 1999 is now too small so all the administrative functions are moved to the refurbished 1,400 sq m office building next door. A further 2,400 sq m of warehouse and workshop facilities are added.
2006 Another 2,400 sq m of warehouse and workshop facilities are added, bringing the total up to 11,000 sq m.
2007 A subsidiary in China, Svend Hoyer Power Transmission (Ningbo), with 1,000 sq m of warehouse is established.
2008 The adjoining property of 40,000 sq m with 10,000 sq m of office and warehouse buildings is acquired.
2009 Two strategic business units, Hoyer Transmissions and Hoyer Motors, are established as a part of the company’s new corporate strategy – ‘The Way Forward’.
2010 ‘The Way Forward’ is launched, and as a part of this strategy a new corporate identity and website are developed and presented.
2011 Another 500 sq m of warehouse facilities are added to the subsidiary in China, bringing the total up to 1,500 sq m.
